“Just making it easier on the stars,” said Kolek when asked what he could bring to the Suns. “They’ve got three max players for a reason. They’re three of the best 15, 20 guys in the league. Every team is going to be keyed in on them each and every night, trying to stop them. It’s tough when you don’t have a point guard. You’re playing a lot of 1-on-1 or you’re not really getting put into your primary spots you that you like to be put in because you don’t have anybody there setting you up or making plays for you. It’s kind of all individual plays.”

Kolek sees the NBA as more of a 1-on-1 game today, but believes he can bring back that traditional point guard, naming Steve Nash and Chris Paul, two of the best to ever do it in that fashion for the Suns.

“That old school point guard, really helping guys, making plays for guys,” Kolek said.

A distributor who can space the floor, the 6-3, 195-pound Kolek averaging 15.3 points on 49.6% shooting this past season. He posted 239 assists to 89 turnovers in 31 games for the Golden Eagles.

Those guys can contribute right away, but normally that’s on a bad team. If you’re drafting the end of the lottery to the 20s and the 30s, you’re on a winning playoff-caliber team. There’s a lot of pressure on a coach or on the general managers and everybody in the building to win now, especially if you got Kevin Durant in his prime and Devin Booker in his prime and Bradley Beal in his prime.”
