Sergey Sirotkin has the Williams car back from Robert Kubica this afternoon, and the Russian is three tenths faster than Lance Stroll so far.
Kubica, meanwhile, says he is still targeting a spot on the 2019 grid, but that it doesn't necessarily have to be with Williams.
After months of speculation last winter, the Pole became a Williams reserve driver but is now prepared for more speculation as 'silly season' hots up - and he's been talking about his options for next year.
"My position and my status hasn't changed," he told reporters in Austria. "Last November Williams was the only free seat but now more teams might change the drivers.
"Just because I'm sitting here does not mean my only target is to be on the grid with Williams, my target is to be on the grid.
"We will see. Realistically, there are not many teams I can end up with or talk with, there is no magic wand!"
Kubica confirmed that 2016 world champion Nico Rosberg, his manager when sorting out a Williams deal, will not have a say on his future.
He was also asked what good qualities an under-performing Williams car had.
"The engine," he said. "And the livery is nice!"
He continued: "I think this is a good opportunity for Williams to show they are still one of the top teams because if they turn things around, we will have to take our hats off to them because the current situation is not easy.
"It is a good possibility to show, although we are going through a difficult period, that this is still a capable team and we have capable people to do so. I think this is the first thing we should target."
