Raptors assistant GM Dan Tolzman on Rich Paul suggesting that Toronto could be interested in Bronny James: "I think all these players are guys we're looking at. He's in the mix... Every player on the board we're looking long and hard at and I wouldn't say we've ruled anybody out"
Tolzman on this week's draft: "This year probably more than any year its wide open. The range of players is about as wide as I can ever remember so that really makes things difficult to project... There's an added level of uncertainty that isnt common for this close to the draft"
On being the 1st team to kick off Day 2 of the draft, Tolzman says he anticipates the phones being busier than usual leading up to 31.
They're leaning towards keeping the pick but will be able to sleep on it and see what the board/offers look like, make a more measured decision.
"We're preparing for the phones being busy leading into (the 31st pick)" Tolzman said because players always unexpected slip to 2nd round.
"It's gonna be a more measured discussion. ... But there could be more teams that come to the table with that pick in mind."
Tolzman says Raptors try to lean best player available. But they do project forward with their core to try to identify what will be needed long-term.
Tolzman pretty much side-steps question about Raps like Bronny James, as put out there by Rich Paul. He says they're considering everyone and haven't ruled out everyone.
AGGREGATE THAT.
