JASON KIDD
(On the team's second-half turnaround...)
"I think the first quarter was more or less we had to get over the fact that [Rudy] Gobert wasn't playing, was a scratch. Quin [Snyder] does a great job with that group. They played hard. But I think once we found the pace and we started not to hold the ball and we started to move the ball and we started to get open looks, we made those. But defensively, when they were small, we had to prepare for that. I thought it was a great challenge for us to see the curve ball, kinda, and be able to catch it as time went on. But the adjustment was just our pace offensively, being able to get stops and take the 3 out of the game."
(On the first-half buzzer beater by Luka Dončić...)
That was big. No one gets upset when a player's trying. Reggie [Bullock] had the first tip and then tried again to get the ball, made a foul. But I thought that was a great try on his part – no one was upset. Then I thought Luka [Dončić] did Luka, being able to get to his spot and being able to make that 3. I thought that gave us some energy, it gave him some energy. I thought we came out there in the third and had another 30-point quarter, which we just continued what we did in the second quarter of having 30-plus points. I thought Luka was great. But just understanding some of the mental things that went on of being able to keep your composure and still focus and execute the game plan."
LUKA DONČIĆ
(On playing the best in the biggest games…)
“I think you learn this as the years go on. But obviously some games you are not going to do good as you want. You’re really motivated, you want to give your best on every possession, and you just play basketball. That’s the best way to play basketball.”
(On the Mavericks finally moving into the 4th spot…)
“We are just half a game ahead now, right? One game ahead. That’s what we wanted, but it’s a long way to go. It’s like seven or eight games left, so we have to keep our composure and focus on the next opponent and try to win every game.”
REGGIE BULLOCK
(On how big the basket felt tonight…)
“It was definitely big. Obviously, the last two games I was struggling from the three. My team was continuing to give me confidence. I believe that I am one of the best shooters in the league when my feet are set and I give arch on it. I just need to keep that confidence when I see one go in. I must keep the confidence to just keep shooting.”
(On recognizing the magnitude of tonight’s game…)
“You know we just went up to Minnesota and dropped one, so we knew how much more important this one was, coming back home playing against a team that we want to move into that fourth spot with. They are a great team. Rudy [Gobert] was not there for them tonight, but at the same time, we went in on our defensive plan tonight and played our game and it just worked for us. We were hitting shots, sharing the ball, and just locked in on our defensive plan and it worked out tonight.”
