Verstappen suggested yesterday that fighting for victory might be beyond Red Bull here, but he was confident of continuing his recent podium sequence nonetheless.

He's going quicker on this run and now posts a 1:06.935.

Bottas and Hamilton were lighting the screens up purple for much of that lap but eventually slot into second and third as Verstappen ahs gone faster again.

The Dutchman posts a 1:06.470 and leads Hamilton by a tenth of a second

But Hamilton has just gone into second, trailing Verstappen by 0.123s.

That's more like it for Mercedes as first Bottas out-paces Verstappen by the best part of half a second, before Hamilton goes fastest with a 1:05.825.

It's a silver one-two for the moment, but we haven't seen anything from Ferrari or Daniel Ricciardo yet.

New MGU-K for Renault runners - but not Red Bull yet
It's been in the works for well over a year, but Renault have finally introduced their long-awaited MGU-K upgrade today - although only on half of the cars on their engine roster have taken it.

The part, which should help provide a power boost in conjunction with the new engine introduced in Canada, has been taken by both works Renault cars plus Stoffel Vandoorne's McLaren.

But both Red Bulls and Alonso's Renault go without, as an additional MGU-K here would have prompted a grid penalt
