We will get a full update on Anthony Edwards when we speak to the team for the first time on Monday at media day. But all indications are that Edwards’ knee soreness that caused the team to shut him down for four games in March has not been an issue this summer. He has gone through workouts and prepared without anything holding him back. Will the soreness resurface during the grind of the season? We will see. But for now, things seem to be in a good place.

I’ve been trying to bounce this off people I trust, not necessarily in the organization, but those who observe this team and this league. So far what I’ve settled on is this: multiple trips out of the first round of the playoffs and at least one trip to the Western Conference finals.
There is a predictable response to this. “Wait, that’s it? Not even an NBA Finals?” To this, I point to history and context. The Wolves have been past the first round of the playoffs one (1) time in more than three decades in the league. If they get to even the second round twice in the next four years, it would mark the most playoff success they’ve ever had. And if they do that, they are getting Edwards the kind of playoff/big game experience he needs to be ready to take on more responsibility when Gobert’s deal expires. He will be 25 when that happens
The Wolves failed to put Kevin Love and Karl-Anthony Towns in enough big games early in their careers to help their development. The above scenario would offer a wealth of experience for Ant. Of course, it would be great to get to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history. Even one trip would, all by itself, emphatically wipe away any doubts about the trade. But that is also really, really hard to do. So it can’t be a championship-or-bust scenario. A string of playoff runs and one conference finals would establish the Wolves as a credible organization, something they have not been for two decades.
