The 2021 Formula 1 calendar
If you missed it earlier in the week, the provisional calendar for the 2021 F1 season has been published.
It looks rather more like what we had expected for 2020 back at the beginning of the year before the pandemic changed everything.
A record 23 rounds are planned, starting in Australia on March 21 and ending in Abu Dhabi on December 5, with the fourth round currently listed as TBC after Vietnam's planned debut was cancelled for next year.
Speaking to Sky F1 at short while ago in Turkey, Chase Carey said they were in discussion with a number of circuits to fill that extra slot. Turkey is indeed thought to be one such venue in the running.
"We are in discussions with a number of locations about a race. We thought it was important to get a calendar out. Most of the places want to start selling tickets and building for their events," said F1's chairman.
"We have that [April] slot to fill out and we look forward to doing that in the short term."

Mercedes are currently on a run of 14 consecutive pole positions in F1 - including every one so far this season.
But that run may be about to come under his most severe test here in Istanbul.

Verstappen off the road again, once more reporting he has no grip as he's overtaken by a McLaren.
All 20 cars on track with a mix of wets and inters.
Albon and Magnussen have already ditched the inters for the full wets after their first laps.

There doesn't seem to be too much difference between the wet and inters at the moment - with Valtteri Bottas straight into the lead with a 2:07.0 on the wets, 0.4s ahead of Esteban Ocon and Lance Stroll, who is on intermediates.

Bottas momentarily went 2s clear of the field with a 2:04.0 but has that lap time deleted, and Esteban Ocon now goes fastest with a 2:06.1.
Lewis Hamilton is fourth, 1.4s off the pace.
"This is the ultimate test for the drivers," says Crofty.

With it raining more heavily, it's worth taking an early look at the drop zone with eight minutes to go:
Leclerc

Gasly

These are miserable conditions and FIA Race Control have decided enough is enough. The clock has been stopped.
"I think that's a good call," says Martin Brundle.
