This three-team blockbuster Warriors trade idea makes perfect sense由那么爱呢_ 发表在翻译团招工部 https://bbs.hupu.com/fyt-store
The Golden State Warriors have the assets to pull off a massive blockbuster trade, but they don’t just need any trade. They need this type of trade.
There’s no denying that the Golden State Warriors 2019-2020 season didn’t’ go as planned. Although Kevin Durant was no longer with the team, the Warriors still had the promise to be one of the best teams in the Western Conference.
The original plan was for Klay Thompson to come back early in the spring after he tore his ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals. That was completely thrown out the door when Stephen Curry broke his hand in the fourth game of the season.
The Warriors then created a little midseason drama when they traded D’Angelo Russell for Andrew Wiggins. Wiggins is likely going to be the team’s starting small forward. Marquese Chriss is the only other relatively unknown starter as he’ll be the projected center.
But, with the No. 2 overall pick in the coming draft, a top pick in the 2021 draft, a $17.2 million trade exception, and a plethora of young, talented players, the Warriors have the assets to bring in what it will take to get them back to the NBA Finals.
On a recent episode of “The Lowe Post,” The Ringer’s Bill Simmons tossed out this three-team trade, and it makes too much sense for all parties involved.
Warriors get: Spencer Dinwiddie, Jarrett Allen, No. 19 overall pick in 2020 NBA Draft
Nets get: Victor Oladipo
Pacers get: No. 2 overall pick in 2020 NBA Draft
That said, let’s dive into why each team would do this deal.
The Nets enhance their championship-caliber roster
The Brooklyn Nets added Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant last offseason.
They brought in two superstars on top of their already developing cast of high-profile role players. Players like Caris LeVert were no longer the star of the show. It was Irving and Durant who were supposed to lead Brooklyn to the promised land.
While they did get there in the first season with the duo, no Irving and Durant meant a first-round exit. With Oladipo, the team could have an elite offense to go with a gritty and underrated defensive side.
Oladipo, this past season with Indiana, averaged 14.5 points per game, down from the over 23 per game he put up a few seasons ago. He’s not on the decline, but he clearly could use a change of environment.
Brooklyn would be the perfect place for Oladipo, and he could hopefully turn into his past self with a few stars by his side.
The Pacers get a top-two pick
The Pacers made the playoffs in 2020, but they’re not true championship contenders. They need a few pieces still, and if they give up Oladipo, they may be able to get the player that inevitably takes their team to the next level.
Edwards could be that player, and even if he’s off the board at No. 2, LaMelo Ball has the potential of a star as well. There are numerous players the Pacers could take at No. 2, but the idea is that they have the option to bring in a player that’s worthy of trading Oladipo for.
The Pacers, ever since the exodus of Paul George, have had Oladipo to lead the way. While he’ll be capable of getting them to the postseason for the instant future, if their sight is set on the Finals, they may want to trade the two-time All-Star.
The drama has already started this offseason, and Oladipo and Turner could be on the hot seat. If so, this trade would work out perfectly given that the star may not be content. They’d only be giving Oladipo for the No. 2 pick.
It’s a pretty straight-up and reasonable deal for Indiana.
The Dubs get the best of both worlds
The Golden State Warriors don’t get the star they want. With that in mind, many fans may not even want to consider this deal.
But, instead of a star, they get to do something better — to prepare the future while bring in the pieces to make a Finals-contenting team once again. With Deandre Jordan on the Nets’ roster in Brooklyn, trading Jarrett Allen makes sense.
For Golden State, adding him would provide depth to a position they have little of. With just one center on the roster, Allen’s addition would make a tremendous difference. He averaged 11.1 points and 9.6 rebounds per game this past season.
At just 22, he’s one of the league’s most promising centers. As for the other pieces of the puzzle, Dinwiddie and the No. 18 provides a chance at a top pick and point guard depth, something the Warriors are aiming for this offseason.
Dinwiddie averaged over 20 points per game last season. He’s good, but in Brooklyn, he may not get enough opportunity, one reason they may be okay with trading him.
