SAN ANTONIO — Former NBA champion Pau Gasol joined Europa Press to discuss his career, and the time he spent with the San Antonio Spurs.Gasol signed with the Spurs during the free agency period in 2016.
At one point he was asked what specifically attracted him to the Spurs, and he had this to say.
“Ginobili was one of the reasons why I went to San Antonio Spurs,” Gasol mentioned to Europa Press.
“He has been a wonderful player and it was also one of the reasons why I decided to play with the Spurs in that free agency. He is an exceptional player, with a huge heart, with a decisive grip, typical of the Argentine player, with the I have had many battles at the international level with our teams," said Gasol. "Having played with him for two years was nice, we have a good relationship."
球员Jamal Crawford透露，2000年当时的公牛总经理杰里·克劳斯Jerry Krause计划在后MJ时代签下蒂姆·邓肯
And according to former Bulls player Jamal Crawford, then General Manager Jerry Krause was planning to sign San Antonio Spurs great Tim Duncan, along with Tracy McGrady and Grant Hill, in 2000.
Crawford explained to "The Platform" about what Krause told him about his plans of creating a super team in Chicago.
"In my rookie year, Jerry thought he was going to get Grant Hill, Tim Duncan and T-Mac (Tracy McGrady)," Crawford said.
"So obviously MJ retires and we have all this cap space," Crawford said. "Grant, Tim, and T-Mac were all free agents and Jerry wholeheartedly believed we would get all three of them."
Things would have looked a whole lot different in the NBA if Krause pulled that hat-trick post-Jordan era.
