Whatever anyone’s opinion regarding Valverde’s coaching abilities are , he didn’t deserve this crappy treatment from the board. Can’t wait for Barto to be done.

As much as I dont like him as a manager, Valverde has been always class and a gentleman, he definitely didn’t deserve this treatment, but nothing cant be expected From this board.
[–]【狼队】PakiIronman 238 points 2 hours ago
It's pretty remarkable honestly, when was the last time a manager got sacked while his team were 1st in the league?
[–]OriginalUsername30 71 points 2 hours ago*
It was Radomir Antic (fired by Real Madrid in 1992). There have only been like 2 or 3 cases before (from some article I read recently).
】pure_black99 208 points 2 hours ago
Yes but have you seen them play? Pass the ball around for a while, hope it ends up with Messi, hope Suarez isn't having a bad day, and shit house a win
[–]DeadZombie9 94 points 2 hours ago
And Pray the defense doesn't concede more than 3 goals. One of the worst defenses in Europe (among top teams) in this season and it would have been absolutely shamed in the UCL KO stage by good opposition.
They have conceded 23 goals while the next 2 teams combined in La Liga have conceded 24. Man City have conceded only 25 in more games and they don't even have any center backs healthy. Most top teams have conceded around 15, give or take.
Club de amigos where even after this shit, Todibo isn't given more chances. Good that Valverde is gone.
[–]【巴萨】latino666 106 points 2 hours ago
No one would bat an eye if we were winning while playing bad when it matters the most, but his whole legacy was tarnished by the last two disastrous losses in the CL
】snoring_pig 77 points 2 hours ago
Should’ve just fired him at the end of last season then or even after that defeat to Liverpool tbh. I get the football is ugly right now but you guys are still tied first.
Setién is coming into the job with a lot of pressure to play beautiful football and win, and there’s no guarantee Barca can win the La Liga anyways.
[–]【巴萨】latino666 58 points 2 hours ago
He shouldn't have left the Anfield as our manager. Especially since Roma had already happened at that point.
[–]-OptimusPrimate- 42 points 2 hours ago
Any team with Messi is expected to be performing significantly better than they are. This is the worst Barcelona of the last 15 years and he's spent more than any other manager I think
[–]【巴萨】mm3n 43 points 2 hours ago
I mean, the same board did the terrible deals with Liverpool and Dortmund for Coutinho and Dembélé, revealed Vidal’s transfer sum when Bayern wanted to keep it a secret, had the laughable “loyalty bonus” in Ney’s contract that allowed him to sue the club...
Nothing new unfortunately, they just haven’t been overly professional for most of our high profile deals for so long.
[–]【巴萨】vivalastjimmy 671 points 2 hours ago
Can’t believe Ole outlasted both Valverde and Pochettino
[–]【皇马】Excllencepersonified 48 points 1 hour ago
Everyone else in PL like him at the ManU wheel
】dryduneden 178 points 1 hour ago
Ole must have special powers.
Pochettino basically revived Spurs but after a string of bad results he gets sacked, while Ole took Man Utd to a prime banter club and turned them into free point 4 0ll of us.
[–]【威尔士】Cymro2011 124 points 59 minutes ago
Difference was Valverde and Poch were at clubs with ambitions.
[–]【曼联】munching_brotatoe 20 points 41 minutes ago
Cant argue with that
[–]_cumblast_ 636 points 2 hours ago
I wonder how Valverde's stint would've gone if not for Manolas scoring that header. All in all 2 league titles in 2 years in a league as strong as La Liga is pretty great but one CL exit led to another, that led to a Copa loss etc.
[–]【多特蒙德】LordVelaryon 401 points 2 hours ago
I wonder when will the players start being blamed.
[–]【巴萨】R3KTMYRAMPAGE 518 points 2 hours ago
Actually they were deserved to be blamed the most
They had no mentality against Liverpool
[–]【皇马】bingpot22 150 points 2 hours ago
I guess we will see what Setien will do. Always thought Barca had a weak mentality since 2015 except when it comes to El Clasico.
[–]【巴萨】MakIRAQ 78 points 2 hours ago
The Roma game is on EV. Liverpool's game is 100% on the players
[–]NorthwardRM 67 points 2 hours ago
I dont know how many times ive said it - the player's mentality is the job of the coach. Its no coincidence that Real Madrid have utterly rock solid mentality under Zidane. Look at Liverpool under Klopp. Mentality is driven by the manager

Plays good possession football. Haven't won anything yet though.
[–]HighlyAdorable13 137 points 2 hours ago
His Betis side was an absolute horror show defensively.
[–]wavechappelle 107 points 2 hours ago
In his second season after losing his best player. In his first season he took them from 15th to 6th and Europe.
[–]【皇家贝蒂斯】TrueHoliday 108 points 2 hours ago
And offensively last year. However excellent in hoarding ball possession and doing nothing with it.
[–]【狼队】ColonelSpeckleberry 36 points 2 hours ago
Had a good season with Real Betis in 17/18, they were exciting team who finished 6th but shipped a fair amount of goals, had a minus GD at the end of the season.
Was at Las Palmas before that where they did OK, finished mid table but also shipped a ton of goals, 16/17 they conceded 74, only two teams conceded more and they got relegated.
I suppose those teams didnt have Ter Stegen in goal but better hope Barcas defense is on their toes for this one.

[–]【皇马】rafael23 182 points 2 hours ago
I'm not sure how I feel, on one hand quique plays some great attacking football that could be terrible for us on the other hand they'll be more fluid which will open up that defense...
[–]【巴萨】Haveeair 109 points 2 hours ago
It’s not like our defense was so great anyways.
[–]【狼队】PakiIronman 65 points 2 hours ago
And that defence has had some poor discipline already this season.
[–]【巴萨】maurid 22 points 2 hours ago
will open up that defense...
It's wide open already :)
[–]levndro09 53 points 2 hours ago

Is he gonna play 352 now that Suarez is injured?
[–]【巴萨】R3KTMYRAMPAGE 6 points 2 hours ago
We have a shitty defence i doubt
[–]【利物浦】lolisn4444 58 points 2 hours ago
I'm sure Barca fans are relieved this is over, but what if they dip in form and win nothing? Will they regret sacking him? Obviously no guarantee Valverde could win anything either, but it's a bit risky given that Madrid are starting to turn it up.
[–]ezclapper 48 points 2 hours ago
I think it's a big risk. Valverde was boring, but he was still likely to win the league and the players liked him. This guy will change everything mid season, it could easily backfire completely. Especially since he likes to play an attacking style, while the current Barcelona squad will concede against every counter attack if he makes them play with a high backline.
[–]【巴萨】maurid 12 points 2 hours ago
but it's a bit risky given that Madrid are starting to turn it up.
This is why EV's stint at Barcelona was no longer sustainable in my opinion. He'd have absolutely nothing to do against a perfectly solid Real Madrid. Not just him, but the players too. Something has to be done about that defense.
