Yao Ming turns 38 today. Yao is the only
qualified center in NBA history to shoot at least 50 percent from the field and
80 percent from the free-throw line for his career.
Qualified meaning at least 2,000
field-goals made and 1,200 free-throws made. There are 13 other players with
Yao on this list, and he is the tallest by nine inches. I might as well list
all of them:
Doug Collins 道格-科林斯
Adrian Dantley 阿德里安-丹特利
Brad Davis 布拉德-戴维斯
Alex English 亚历克斯-英格利什
George Gervin 乔治-格文
Magic Johnson “魔术师”约翰逊
Billy Knight 比利-奈特
Sidney Moncrief 悉尼-蒙克里夫
Chris Mullin 克里斯-穆林
John Stockton 约翰-斯托克顿
Kiki VanDeWeghe 奇奇-范德维奇
Paul Westphal 保罗-韦斯特法尔
Yao Ming 姚明
It's amazing that a guy that big had such a
soft shooting touch.

Kinda surprised that hasn't happened
before. It's definitely going to change with guys like jokic and towns though

JV might get there too. Career .785 FT
shooter that’s improved since the start, career .558 FG%

My man Big Z was close. 48% from field and
78% from the line.

Bill Laimbeer was really close too: 49.8
percent from the field and 83.7 percent from the line.

Laimbeer shot 3s too! He didnt get that
49.8% by just shooting in the paint. Let that sink in.

Towns is coming for that, he only needs to
make 276 more free throws (he hit 345 last year)

KAT just shot 54.5-42-85.8. Half a % from
the 55-40-85 club, which only has one member to date, 1997 Chris Mullin on 14.5
KAT is still just 22. Oft-repeated but
still amazing factoid, he averaged 28 ppg on 60-43-84 post-ASB his age 21
This dude could seriously found the
60-45-90 club before it's all said and done. At the very least, just based on
his youth and continuing growth curve, it'd be kinda surprising if he didn't
post at least a 57-43-88. Which is insane. That's like a better shooting 2013

Yao Ming is only 38?? Holy shit I always
thought he was older.

He did play some pro ball in China. But I
was surprised by his age too, he’s been out so long you’d think he was in his

able to do in China in such a short time as well.

TMac is also only 39. Younger than guys
like Jason Terry, Vince, Dirk.

But he looks like he's in his late 40's or

Yao is right up there with LeBron as a guy
who had all the hype in the world and a ton of pressure but managed to live up
to or exceed expectations.
It's too bad him and McGrady could never
stay healthy in the playoffs at the same time.

T Mac and Yao could've been kobe and shaq I
tell ya. Injured at different times, had to lead the time alone during those
stretches, but had great role players during then. I remember how good Scola
was around that time. That's also when I hated the Utah Jazz...eliminating the
rockets two first rounds in a row :(

And just one of the best people around. Not
easy to stay humble when people treat you like a deity.

Still blows my mind he played a smidge of
the '10-11 season and then that was the end of it. That was his 9th season and
he was a Top 5 Center. So much we missed out on...
[–][BOS] Reggie Lewisanomanissh 16 指標 11小時前
I feel like those last 4-5 years that were
mostly injury-shortened, he was a top 2 center.
NowitzkiCheetahSperm18 10 指標 11小時前
Yeah I remember him and Dwight were up
there for the longest time

Yao Ming would’ve been shooting 3s if he
had started his career today. He was more of a perimeter guy before coming to
the NBA and His shooting stroke was ridiculous. Its kind of a shame JVG turned
him into a traditional post player right as post-up centers were becoming
In today’s NBA I see him as Towns with less
athleticism and a lot more defense.

a real tragedy injuries robbed him of his
full potential. this guy was the most skilled big man in nba history, and he
was starting to put up legit MVP numbers. he was a championship level
competitor and i still believe strongly that if he didn't get injured against
the lakers in 2009 they would have been champions.
