After Boogie went down, Anthony Davis averaged 30 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists with 2 steals and 3 blocks (on 59TS%) to lead the Pelicans to 21/33 wins, a 52-win pace.
AD averaged 30.2/11.9/2.2/2/3.2 on 51/34/84 shooting (59TS%), scoring over 30 points 15 times, over 35 points 9 times, over 40 points 6 times, and over 50 points once.
During a particularly memorable 2 week stretch (10/2-26/2), Davis averaged a ridiculous 42/15/2/3/3.2 on 63TS%, with the Pels going 6-0 during this period (part of a longer 10-game win-streak).
Interestingly, the Pelicans played at a 46-win pace before the Boogie injury and a 51-win-pace after. It should be noted however that they had been on a 4-game winning streak right before the injury happened (winning 8 of the past 11 games too)
so who knows how many wins they would’ve gotten had Boogie stayed healthy and kept their positive momentum going (Pels lost 5 of the first 6 games after Cousin’s injury, with the team struggling to find the right balance with one of their Twin Towers abruptly gone).

Trading for Mirotic helped a lot too

Yep! As per stats.nba.com, the AD/Mirotic combo had an excellent net rating of 10.7 (vs 4.2 for Cousins/Davis), and the AD/Holiday/Mirotic/Moore/Rondo 5-man lineup that saw the most minutes post-Boogie had a net rating of 16.8 and 59.3TS%, while replacing Mirotic with Boogie in the same lineup (the Pels’ preferred lineup when Boogie was healthy) had produced a surprisingly stark net rating of -2.9 and 57.3TS%.

Mirotic's a way better fit, spaces the floor, doesn't need the ball in the post thats why
[–]Cavalierspm_me_spider_picz[S] 181 指標 10小時前
Yeah, and Mirotic is also a lot less turnover-prone! Boogie was leading a league that includes Westbrook and Harden and LeBron in turnovers before he went out.
Nevertheless, Boogie was putting up historic numbers and averaging career highs in assists, rebounds, steals, and TS% so it would’ve been cool to see how the season would’ve turned out had the Pels been able to keep their positive momentum going with Boogie ;;

When he got hurt the Pelicans really seemed to be clicking too
[–]Trail Blazersirelli 247 指標 10小時前
They were straight up better with mirotic instead of cousins. Better spacing, for shots for AD

It was so weird to see NOP fans insisting they weren't better with Mirotic when it was clear that they were.

But it takes time to figure out how to use multiple stars together, and the Pels had just figured that out before the Boogie injury.
Seems like y'all are forgetting that we were straight up rolling before Boogie went down. 7 of 8 wins, including wins against Portland, Boston, and Houston (we were the only team to beat a fully healthy Houston to that point). Our defense was looking really good and our offense started to look totally great.
You gotta factor in the fact that AD just plain started playing better (and not because of a lack of Boogie, he was just straight up trying harder) while Jrue also shot off into the stratosphere.
I know everybody wants to attribute our teams success at the end of the year to our lack of Boogie, but in reality the team's potential was way higher with Demarcus on the court because we hadn't even seen the best of him with this team yet.

The thing is, they could and should have traded for Miriotic regardless. It's not like Cousins going down gave them the cap space to trade for him, they could have still done the deal.

Deal was already in the works before Boogie went down, it's strange not more people than Pels fans know that.
Not having a functional third big behind AD/Boogie was a big liability. Dante Cunningham was our bench PF for a time lol

Man that 52 game pace really puts their 48 win season in perspective...

Hot take: Boogie's new team will win more games than his old team.

42/15 huh?, not bad.
[–]NBAMarcin23 77 指標 10小時前
Some might even say half decent
[–]apuzzledpanda 41 指標 7小時前
Why are we acting like this is good?
[–]Raptorsjxu000 47 指標 9小時前
AD carried me to a fantasy bball championship and made me $300 richer

It's not exactly a huge secret, but AD will be the next best player in the league and will win multiple MVPs. I firmly believe that. He's already a top 5 player in the league. I'm not even a Pelicans or UK fan, but the guy's skillset is absurd given how long he is. Just a joy to watch.

Except AD is a better scorer while KG a better defender.

And AD was still almost DPOY

Imagine if LeBron went to NOLA
[–]PelicansBigEarl139 44 指標 9小時前
Lol we were all dreaming for it.
Imagine having a huge hole in your roster, and then at that position of need you just straight up sign the GOAT.
Fills out the roster in it's totality. Solidifies our starting lineup, giving us a really good bench unit. I do geniunely think we were one of the best basketball spots for Lebron. But he was looking past basketball, and we also didn't have the cap space this year lmao.
