greatest chance for them to have met was in '09 when the Lakers played the
Magic. Other than this season, how close were they REALLY to playing each
other, and who's team would have won? Wild.

I imagine if that Lakers squad of Nash,
Kobe, Pau, and Dwight had turned out to be as good as people thought, we'd have

If only we had 2008 Kobe, 2009 Dwight, 2005
Nash, and 2009 Pau on the team, we'd have seen it for sure.

2013 Kobe was actually better than 2008

0 fucking percent chance. Even if some of
his stats were better he was nowhere near the same player. 08-10 were the years
where he still had his athleticism but had developed insane bbiq.

elite until the injury.

You ruined an all-time hero ball matchup:
09 LeBron playoffs -- 47.5 pts per 100 for
14 games, 51% FG
06 Kobe season -- 45.6 pts per 100 for 80
games, 45% FG
The 09 Finals would've basically been a
game of one-on-one. And we missed out on it because of YOU.

Hedo was always a great shooter even when
he was a skinny guy on the Kings. I think the roids just bulked him up because
he looked like a different person on the Magic.

Which probably helped him with the wear and
tear of the playoffs

aren't on shit? Lol
I don't think that is completely right. In
2005 and 2006 neither of them made the Finals.
But still that's impressive.
[–][DAL] Seth CurryWrextor 133
lol what? there were no 2006 finals so its
Was it because of the lack of finals in 06
that lead to them having the finals in the first round in 07?
Even if the cavs made it past the magic
they still would've gotten stomped by the Kobe/Pau lakers.
Best matchup would've been if
a. the CP3 trade doesn't get basketball
reason'd against and you get Kobe/Paul against the Big 3 Heat
b. Kobe/Dwight/Nash works out somehow and
you get them actually not destroying their bodies midseason against the Heat
would've been fun
What was fun that season was that Kobe and
Pau weren't even the Cavs' main problem when they played us. The problem the
Cavs had was when Lamar Odom came off the bench he destroyed their bench unit
almost by himself, they had no one on the team that could match up with him at

Fuck Dan Gilbert
2011 was probably the best year for them to
meet. People seem to forget that the Lakers were actually the title favorites
at the start of the playoffs that year.
Even though the Cavs were the #1 seed in
'09, I don't remember them being favored to win the East.
We fell apart at the end of that season. We
had a stretch in the second half where we won 17 of 18 (only loss was a close
game on the road against the Heat) but we followed that up with 5 straight
losses before winning 2 to close out the season. We then struggled with the
Hornets before ultimately getting swept by Dallas. I felt a little better after
seeing Dallas win it all.
[–]Lakerssheeeeeez 97
kind of a misleading statistic considering
Lebron has been in the finals every year since he was born.
Whenever someone tells me the nba is rigged
for ratings, this is my best argument.
Why pit LeBron against Dallas and SA when
Kobe vs LeBron would have been the absolute biggest draw of any finals possible
in the 2000s?
[–]Raptors Bandwagonitiswhatitdo 66
It's a very bad one, because it relies on
all the players being complicit. There's no way for the NBA to subtly rig a
series when one team clearly plays better than the other.
If the NBA is rigged, it's by refs making
calls that help one team. They can't magically make a team play well, or make
another team play poorly.
